PRESENTING THE PURPLE PEOPLE EATERS - THE MOST COLOURFUL REBEL OUTLAW BIKER GANG IN TOWN!

Back in 1958, American singer Sheb Wooley had a most unlikely but very sizeable hit single with the self-penned novelty song 'The Purple People Eater'. As its title reveals, this song tells of a purple alien monster from Outer Space with a passion for eating people, and described fully in the lyrics as a one-eyed one-horned flyin' purple people eater - but when he lands on Earth, it's not to fuel his gargantuan anthropophagous appetite but simply to get a job in a rock'n'roll band, which he duly succeeds in doing & becomes a big star performing on TV! This of course was the ambition of many a youngster back in the late 1950s, so Wooley's song appealed to the youth market straight away, hence its swift, runaway success, hitting #1 in the USA's Billboard Chart. and also in Australia's singles chart, as well as reaching #12 in the UK's singles chart.

It's always been one of my favourite novelty songs too, so before I'd even launched this biker-themed AI artwork blog back in January 2025 I'd already created some images of the eponymous Purple People Eater (or PPP for short) using the AI image-generation program Magic Studio (the first such program that I ever used). These images in turn gave me the idea more recently of using the PPP as the basis of a gallery here in my biker blog. But instead of the PPP coming to Earth, he would come to Biker Earth, where he would be encountered by a gang of rebel outlaw bikers riding through the woodlands in which he had just landed. And instead of wanting to join a rock'n'roll band, he would therefore want to join their rebel outlaw biker gang! Moreover, as in the original family-friendly song, and as I'm sure you'll be relieved to learn, his passion for eating people would not be featured!

Giving the storyline one extra biker-themed tweak: after fulfilling his ambition to join a rebel biker gang on Biker Earth, the PPP subsequently established one of his own there, called - what else? - the Purple People Eaters, of which he was obviously the leader, and whose members, notwithstanding their rough, tough, daunting demeanour, all duly wore distinctive purple leather biker jackets (mostly sleeveless) & purple leather jeans, instantly & proudly identifying themselves as Purple People Eater gang members. There is even a fraternity of non-PPP bikers who nonetheless wear purple leathers to signify their respect & admiration for the real ones - I've included a few images of these PPP supporters here.

But that's still not all. As I've used no fewer than  eight different AI image-generation programs to create this gallery's numerous & very diverse images, it will come as no surprise to discover that the PPP has been depicted in many different physical forms by them. So to explain that away, and unlike the original PPP that came to our own universe's planet Earth in the song, I decided to render his Bikerverse version as a shape-shifter, able to change into any form that he chooses. Problem solved! And speaking of the PPP's physical appearance: the verbally complex concept of a one-eyed one-horned flying purple people eater proved a little too much at times for the AI image-generation programs used by me to process when I presented it to them within my descriptive verbal prompts, the result being a fair few generated PPPs that deviated quite dramaticallty in form from the latter's correct appearance. So I obtained a fair few two-eyed, multi-horned, non-flying, bright blue people-eaters in addition to the standard version, as you'll see below!

Then again, do we even know what the accurate, correct version of the PPP's appearance really is? For although this alien visitor is invariably depicted in the media as being purple, the lyrics of the original Wooley song are intriguingly ambiguous on this crucial point, because they never actually confirm that he is indeed purple. All that they do confirm is that the Purple People Eater eats purple people - for when asked in the lyrics what his line [of work] is, he replies: "Eatin' purple people and it sure is fine". So although, as clearly substantiated by the latter quote from the song's lyrics, the descriptive term 'Purple People Eater' definite;y alludes to something that eats purple people, whether that something is itself purple is another matter entirely, at least as far as being substantiated by the lyrics is concerned. So much for the clarity of the English language!

Anyway, and without any further ado, here comes the Bikerverse's very own one-eyed, one-horned, flyin' purple people eater & his very own eponymous biker gang. Enjoy the mauve & magenta madness, the lilac & lavender lunacy, but with no violet violence in sight, and if you'll forgive my colourful mixed metaphor, the PPP here is definitely in the pink!
